About

Yu Yasutake is a Japanese designer currently based in Paris. Her work focuses on creating patterns that celebrate the natural world and everyday moments of joy. She finds inspiration in simple activities such as walking in the forest, strolling through city gardens, cycling in the countryside, and taking trips to the seaside. Her design style is characterized as graphic, colorful, loose, and whimsical. Yu combines delicate and bold elements, often incorporating simplified flat shapes into her designs.

In addition to her print designs, Yu also specializes in developing hand-woven textiles in her studio. Using a 24-shaft table loom, she explores various weaving techniques to create a range of interior textiles, such as cushions, table mats, and tablecloths. Inspired by geometric abstract art and the minimalist aesthetic of Japanese paper folding, her work is characterized by its simplicity, boldness, and graphic quality, offering a fresh interpretation of classic weave structures.
